the activity is called " My country's problems" I wrote some country names on the board ( norway, turkey, spain , brazil) and I asked students to brainstorm on them. We made some mindmaps. Then I put them into little groups and I assigned each group with a country. They were supposed to do a mini research on it. ( what conflicts do the people face in there, a little background information as to what disasters the country has had so far etc...) ( melting of the glaciers in norway, the gap between the rich and the poor in brazil) The groups drew what they have come up with on cardboards the following day and presented it to their friends. not only did they use the language but also they learned many things as well!
